Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Nationals this year.



As such, we will need to designate another Masters representative to assure
that any issues related to Masters are addressed.



One key issue is to assure that the race courses selected are age
appropriate - from over 30 Men to over 50 Women.  (This was a bit of a
challenge at Mt. Itasca last year.)

I reality, I only received some "heat" from one individual.



Having raced all the courses at Mt. Itasca and knowing that conditions were
going to be "rockets fast", I believe most would agree that we made the
right decision on courses.  I saw a number of the Senior Men skidding around
corners:-)



One of the most difficult challenges is defining courses that are
challenging but enjoyable.  Remember from our discussions last year that one
of our primary goals is to encourage participation.



It might be best to have someone local who has raced the courses help with
the decision process.

All is clear now.? Actually they don't have to bring us Masters?up for NORAM non medaled recognition, and then again for US National Masters.? It just slows the whole process down.? Once works fine. 

Thanks for your support and leadership.? I think we need to continue the masters advocacy more actively in the coming year. 

Topics: 

a) standardize masters courses on senior womens courses. 

b) reinforce masters age classifications for new venues. 

c) advocate for more advanced notice for masters courses and venues for US Masters Championships.? Fewer surprizes and local autonomous decision making. 

d) encourage participation of more masters from more areas than just CO & WA.? East coast representation was surprizingly low. 

e) obtain input from all regions and from the masters most likely to participate. 

Try to reconvene the masters reps for discussion of these issues.

I need to meet with Piotr in early April about a number of other biathlon
related issues so I'll put this on the agenda as well.
